February 15, 2021, Structure Fire Burleson, Texas (Johnson County, Texas). It was minus 8 degrees.Area residents faced Texas’ Ice Storm problems like limited power and clean drinking water up through February 21, 2021. ESS members were there to help the community through bottled water distributions. May 3, 2021 ESS traveled to Grandview, Texas to welcome and train prospective volunteers in Hill County. There was a tornado touch down that night. See the video on YouTube shot by an ESS member.On June 16, 2021, the ESS took up a position on a street with limited places to park. The closest strategic location was on the sunny side of the street. Luckily, it was still in the morning. On June 20, 2021, responders put out a trash fire. It was a very hot August 30, 2021. First responders on-site needed a lot of dehydration relief. In 2021, we started using DripDrop ORS Electrolyte Hydration Powder Sticks. When mixed with water, it delivers 3x the electrolytes of sports drinks and 1/2 the sugar. Great for our responders. At least it wasn’t in the heat of the day yet.
An August 25, 2021 grassfire kept responders and ESS busy.
July 31, 2021, was a hot one. Working together, Johnson County responders stopped the fire from spreading to surrounding homes. On August 11, 2021, responders put out a mobile home fire on one of the three hottest days in Johnson County Texas of 2021. Some of us were feeling it, too. We pushed lots of rest and fluids on this scorcher of a day.A September 7, 2021, early morning fire kept local responders on their toes. There was a beautiful sunrise that blessed those who saved life and property. Thanks, all. September 25, 2021. Wreck assist in Hill County. December 19, 2021 was the first cold-weather ESS call of the new Winter season. Structure fire in Venus, Texas. Departments 79, 82, 80, 84, 72, 75, #Rehab88 and #Rehab288 responded. Today was a black coffee and hot cocoa kind of day for responding crews. They earned it at this call. Luckily, it was a little above freezing so the water on our rehab units didn’t turn to ice before it could be used to keep our on-scene first responders going.
